Meet the Maker - The Lapwing Printworks

Today we are featuring Jon and Sarah of The Lapwing Printworks. The couple who are based in Norwich make very unique hand pulled prints, lino cuts, wood cuts and wood engravings.

They have also recently branched out into letterpress and so now sell stationery too.

"We've always been interested in printmaking but it was only when we moved in together that we had the space to start creating our own prints." says Jon, "We sell our work online in our Etsy and Folksy shops and our website allows us to take on commissions. "

"What we love most about our work is first glimpse of a new print when the paper is first peeled back – after several hours planning and carefully cutting the image, it's very exciting to see the first proof!" says Sarah.

"In the future we'd like to do more collaborative prints together, as well as expanding our range of letterpress stationery."

You can visit The Lapwing Printworks at Handm@de Cambridge and also you can see their work online via the links below:

for your Valentine...

Some sweet treats from some of the designers who will be at Handm@de Cambridge.
Give a thoughtful gift this Valentines day, something handmade and unique!

This notebook by The Lapwing Printworks is so unique. It features letterpress pictures of dancing couples. It is handsewn and hand printed. You could even put a little love note inside! Perfect for a man or a woman :)

This gorgeous Pink Chocolate Blush Stripe scarf from Cloudhopping is guaranteed to keep your Valentine warm. It is crocheted from 100% Scottish and Shetland wool.

And finally, a Valentines gift guide wouldn't be complete without a gorgeous piece of jewellery. Each silver heart on this Valentine for Three necklace by Corryvreckan is hand cut, hammered and polished, they are then strung together to form a pendant. Beautiful!

Charity Table

Just to let you all know we will be giving a table to the Blue Cross animal adoption charity.
They have a centre in Cambridge which rehomes cats and rabbits.

They will be at the fair raising money for their cause and giving out information on rehoming and animal welfare.

Blue Cross will also be raffling off handmade prizes, donated by our stallholders.

We hope to raise lots of money for the Blue Cross and welcome any donations of items from our stallholders and also hope that our visitors come and support the stall on the day.

For more information, see the Blue Cross Cambridge website.
